This ślokaḥ describes the qualities of an intelligent and ambitious person. Somewhere they may sleep on the bare ground. Somewhere else, they might sleep on a soft, luxurious bed. Yet, somewhere else they might eat only vegetables. In other places, they may eat a delicious meal with grains. Someplace, they may wear only worn out rags and they may be dressed like a god elsewhere. Such a person who is intelligent and ambitious does not differentiate between pain and pleasure, taking them to be equal.
